President To Lam visits and presents gifts to meritorious people in Thuan Thanh town

On the afternoon of July 24, a working delegation of the Party and State led by General To Lam, Politburo member and President, visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Cuoc, 95 years old, in Ninh Xa ward, Thuan Thanh town, and encouraged seriously wounded soldiers being treated at Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024).

The delegation was joined by several Members of the Party Central Committee, including Chief of the President’s Office Le Khanh Hai, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Permanent Deputy Head of the Commission for Mass Mobilisation of the Party Central Committee Pham Tat Thang; Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, Commander of Military Region I.

At the Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Cuoc’s house in Hoang Xa area, Ninh Xa ward (Thuan Thanh town), President To Lam presented gifts and expressed his deep gratitude for the great and silent sacrifices of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers for the cause of national liberation and protection of the Fatherland. The President was pleased to see that Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Cuoc, despite her advanced age, is still clear-headed and healthy. He wished her good health and longevity, and continued to be a spiritual support for generations of children and people in the town.

Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Cuoc had two sons who died in the resistance war against America and the border war to protect the Fatherland.

At Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center, the delegation observed a minute of silence in commemoration of late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. President To Lam affirmed that over the past years, despite many difficulties facing the country, our Party and State have always cared for the lives of and shown gratitude to the families of those who contributed to the Revolution.

The President directed the relevant agencies to create the best conditions in terms of material and spiritual aspects as well as to meet the legitimate and appropriate aspirations of the war invalids here. He emphasized that in 2025, Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center would celebrate its 60th anniversary and must strive to build this place into a typical address, leading in the care and treatment of seriously wounded and sick soldiers nationwide. The President requested the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs closely coordination with relevant ministries, sectors and localities to strengthen facilities, improve the quality of service provision, and meet the needs of care and treatment of wounded and sick soldiers nationwide in general and in Thuan Thanh in particular; proactively advise on perfecting legal policies to better and better resolve the regime and policies for people with meritorious services, demonstrating the superiority of our regime... Regarding Bac Ninh province, the President highly appreciated the province's achievements in directing and managing socio-economic development over the past years, typically the work of repaying gratitude and taking care of people with meritorious services in the province. Those results are an important foundation, contributing to the good implementation of the social security policy of the province and our Party and State...

Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center was established in 1965, under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs. It is the place that nurtures and treats the largest number of war invalids and the most severely disabled in the country. Up to now, the Center has received, managed, nurtured, treated and rehabilitated more than 1,000 seriously wounded war invalids injured in battlefields, whose hometowns are in more than 20 provinces and cities from Thua Thien Hue to the North. After being treated and cared for, most of the war invalids have partially recovered their health and working capacity, and have been transferred to their families to recuperate and reintegrate into the community. Currently, the Center is managing, nurturing, treating and implementing policies for 91 seriously wounded war invalids with a disability rate of over 81%.

On this occasion, President To Lam presented many meaningful gifts to the Center and war invalids of Thuan Thanh War Invalids Nursing Center; the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs; the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province and Thuan Thanh town also presented gifts to the Center and war invalids being treated here.
